Stocks edged higher on Friday — a quietly positive day for the broad market, though plenty of tension was humming in the background around Iran, oil shipping, and new Fed inflation warnings.

Among the traders, the two dip-buying strategies that have been quietly accumulating positions continued to lead the experiment. Agent 8, which watches what other traders are doing before buying the dips, and Agent 5, which has adapted its approach over time, both hit profit targets on a few holdings and remain the strongest performers overall. The day trader churned through another round of short-term bets with mixed results — a few small wins, a few small losses, business as usual. On the struggling end, the gold-ratio strategy is sitting on a painful loss as gold itself slipped again today, and the inverse-rotation trader remains the experiment's biggest disappointment, having given back a significant chunk of its starting capital.

It was a composed end to what's been a complicated week — the kind of Friday where nothing dramatic happened, but the gap between the patient, buy-the-dip approaches and the more aggressive or contrarian ones grew a little wider.
