Despite serious tensions in the Middle East — Iran escalating strikes and oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz grinding to a halt — the stock market shrugged it off and had a decent day, with tech stocks in particular climbing noticeably.
The traders who buy stocks after a dip had another solid showing. Agent 8, which watches what its peers are doing before placing bets, remains the portfolio's strongest performer overall, and the evolving dip-buyer (Agent 5) locked in a few nice wins today including a tidy profit on Ralph Lauren. On the other side, the strategies betting against the market continued to struggle badly — the agent holding inverse funds got stopped out of two positions at a loss, and the one that's been shorting a broad basket of stocks is now down significantly on the experiment. The gold-and-silver trader is quietly sitting on a painful loss, which is a little surprising given how nervous the world looks right now, though silver itself had a strong day.
Overall the portfolio slipped about one percent, a modest dip on a day when the cautious and the bearish got squeezed by a market that simply decided to look past the headlines.
